On January 12, 2024, the Unilex Charitable Foundation, in cooperation with partners, donated two innovative PEARLS™ burn beds to the burn department of the Odessa City Clinical Hospital No. 10. This state-of-the-art equipment is designed to treat patients with severe burn injuries.
PEARLS™ beds are a real breakthrough in the field of critical care. They are produced by only two manufacturers in the world, and the key feature is the unique technology of air-fluidized therapy. By pushing air through millions of microspheres in the bed frame, a fluid-like environment is created. This reduces pressure, friction, overheating of the skin and improves its microclimate - critical conditions for the healing of complex wounds and the prevention of complications.
In addition, the bed provides:
- comfortable position of the patient;
- full access for medical personnel;
- controlled ventilation;
- material disinfection function, which increases the level of safety.
Similar systems are already used by leading burn and intensive care units in hospitals in Europe, the USA, Canada and other countries around the world. Their effectiveness in treating severe burns has been clinically proven.
In the conditions of the full-scale war that Russia is waging against Ukraine, the need for such equipment has increased many times. Every day, Ukrainian doctors save the lives of victims with mine and explosive injuries, burns from shelling, and man-made fires. Modern equipment can significantly increase the chances of recovery and reduce the suffering of patients.
Odesa is not the first destination. As part of this initiative, the Unilex Charitable Foundation has already donated similar beds to regional hospitals in Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. Assistance to Zaporizhia and Kharkiv regions is ahead.
